Motivating Myself Monday
It’s Monday February 25th!
February is over this week! O-M-G! How did this happen? Wasn’t it just January 1st…yesterday? Time flies and with no consideration to what one wants to do or accomplish. That only leaves one thing…
…just roll with it!
Last night I was catching up on blog reading while watching the Oscars and saw this post from Roni. The quote she selected is pretty powerful and eye-opening. I recognize I’m bit of a procrastinator. What I didn’t realize until this past weekend is that fear is stopping me from committing to anything. Whether its fitness related or making plans in general. I actually caught myself saying that I couldn’t commit to plans for April because I didn’t know what was going to happen. It’s like I am expecting some other huge challenge to come up.
Well that sucks! :-\
Obviously I don’t have to live this way. I recognize that these feelings have come up because of the challenges of the past year. I just wasn’t aware they were affecting me so much. Sometimes it’s a blessing to be made aware of what is happening “behind the scenes” in your own mind. I’ve been so focused on putting out the big fires in my life that I had not realized just how many of the little things I let go. In fact I have even started to let some of the bigger things, food and exercise, go a bit. That’s what scared me this weekend. It led me back to some of favorite healthy living blogs with the hope of gathering a little bit of inspiration. Thanks Roni for choosing that particular quote!
So today I am making an effort to do these little things for myself. It is the little things that can brighten up your day and give your mind a break from thinking of the heavy stuff. We can’t live worrying about what is going to happen next, we just have to live. I know this…I just forgot for a minute!
This is how I’ve taken care of me today:
- I stopped the “Ugh, it’s Monday” thoughts by repeating “Today is going to be a great day” as I left the house.
- I had a healthy breakfast I thoroughly enjoyed and savored every bit of it.
- Brought healthy snacks and lunch to work (see pic above). Also got my vitamins in today!
- I got to work early and snuck into the lady’s room to throw on some make-up and fix my chipped manicure.
- I’m up to my sixth cup of water as of 4:00 PM.
- Planning on making a healthy dinner and getting in a workout in tonight. Even if it’s a quick and short one.
I love that a friend’s blog post gave me this eye-opening moment. I love to take care of others but in the process I sometimes forget my needs. It happens. But now I’m aware and going to make some changes!

I have those days a lot, when i just have to tell myself to “Pull It Together!”
It does help to just act like we’ve got it all under control, and it helps us actually bring some of it under control.
Love the color, by the way.
